Documentation Help – Just in Case
The proposed SAVE Act (not yet passed by Congress) will require Proof of US Citizenship, photo ID, and matching name and address in order to vote.
- Proof of U.S. citizenship: 1) U.S. Passport, 2) state-issued Real ID such as Maryland Driver’s License, 3) Military Card showing U.S. birthplace, OR 4) Other government-issued Card showing U.S. birthplace. If U.S. birthplace does not appear on a government-issued ID, then an official Birth Certificate, Adoption Decree, or Naturalization Certificate will also need to be supplied.
- Matching name: If your name has changed, such as through marriage or divorce, you will also need to produce official documentation showing the changes.
- Matching address: You must provide evidence that you reside at the location where you want to vote.
